It’s very simple to disable the USB ports in windows in order to prevent and forbid computer user from using USB removable flash drive or mass storage device to copy and transfer data and files. Use the following tricks to stop access to the USB Mass Storage Device and follow the simple steps to re-enable access to this devices again.
Follow the simple steps :
Disable the access to USB port:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate, and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor
- In the right pane, double-click Start.
- In the Value data box, type 4, click Hexadecimal (if it is not already selected), and then click OK.
- Exit from Registry Editor.
Re-enable the Disabled port :
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate, and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor
- In the right pane, double-click Start.
- In the Value data box, type 3, click Hexadecimal (if it is not already selected), and then click OK.
- Exit from Registry Editor.
